Maritime Museum needs waterfront

Re: “Museum will be tough sell,” editorial, Feb. 5.

I agree with the editorial that suggests the Maritime Museum of B.C. should be next to the water, with a wharf that could hold heritage boats. This is pretty much the way of any maritime museum I’ve ever been to.

What about the long unused Northern Junk Company location? A couple of heritage buildings with nautical history could be restored, with a view over the waterfront.

It would need additional space, but it’s a start. And there’s a wharf in front that seems rarely used. It’s a great walk-to location, and trails go right by it.

It certainly seems like a better solution than a proposed highrise condo developmen­t there.
