Pricey windows smashed at liquor store

-

Large panes of glass surrounding the Tudor House Liquor Store in Esquimalt were smashed early Jan. 27 in what the store’s management is calling an act of vandalism.

Several of the angled pieces of glass were shattered between 1:15 a.m. and 1:40 a.m., according to a post on the liquor store’s Facebook page. The store is at the corner of Esquimalt Road and Admirals Road.

“It appears our shop was vandalized … causing great damage to our front entrance windows,” store managers Bernie and Marta Dumas wrote in the online post. “There is an investigation in course and if you have any information that can help us identify this person, please report it to the Victoria police or Victoria Crime Stoppers.”

There was no damage to the inside of the building and nothing was stolen.

Victoria Police spokesman Const. Matt Rutherford said the damage was “initially thought to be structural, but on further inspection, evidence was located that would suggest it was mischief.”

Management said five panels of glass were broken and the custom-made pieces could take months to replace.
