Trudeau was right to protect jobs

-

The concept that the prime minister and the cabinet should not be involved in a situation in which there are two legitimate legal avenues available and thousands of Canadian jobs are at stake is uniquely Canadian. The concept that such an important decision should be left exclusively to a new and inexperienced justice minister makes no sense to me.

Surely if the SNC-Lavalin prosecution proceeds and the company is broken up or sold off to foreign interests and thousands of Canadians are laid off, the Trudeau government should be held to account. If you agree with that, then you must agree that where there are several legal alternatives available. Trudeau and the government have an obligation to ensure that the interests of Canada and Canadian workers are considered.

On one of the few occasions when Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has acted to protect jobs and the viability of one our few remaining global corporations, we use the occasion to try to destroy him.

Common sense dictates that when corporations engage in corruption in foreign lands, the executives who facilitated or authorized or knew of the action should be prosecuted, not the worker in Prince George or Nanaimo responsible for monitoring environmental compliance.

Even though I am conservative by nature, my opinion of Trudeau and his team has increased for standing up for Canada and Canadian workers, and my opinion of Andrew Scheer has decreased for trying to score political points instead of advocating for what is best for Canada. Ron Hart Central Saanich
