Bait bike leads to ‘chop shop’ in Beacon Hill Park

-

A bait bike led Victoria police’s Strike Force to a bicycle “chop shop” in Beacon Hill Park.

Officers had put out the bait bikes, which are equipped with technology that allows officers to follow their movement, in response to a recent increase in property crime, including bike thefts, in the Burnside Gorge area.

The investigation led police to the chop shop, where stolen bikes were being disassembled for parts or reassembly. One person was arrested and several stolen bikes seized.

Further investigation led to two more arrests and the seizure of more stolen property.
