Two arrested after bicycle theft in garage
Two men ages 60 and 22 were arrested after Saanich police executed a search warrant at a home in the 3500-block of Shelbourne Street.
The search was carried out in relation to a bicycle stolen in a break-in at a parking garage near the home.
Officers found the bicycle and other evidence linked to the break-in, along with a dirt bike that turned out to be stolen and a utility trailer reported stolen earlier in the day.
The men have been charged with break-and-enter, theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Saanich police Const. Markus Anastasiades said officers have noticed an increase in property crime in the past several weeks.
West Shore RCMP reported a jump in property crimes in March compared with the same month last year.
