RAVEN seeks a treasurer to serve on its volunteer board of directors. Our ideal candidate lives in the southern Vancouver Island area, holds a CPA or CA designation and is excited to join in our work to put reconciliation into action. RAVEN raises legal defence funds to assist Indigenous Nations that choose to enforce their rights to protect their traditional territories. Our governance board meets every two months. The Victoria Dragon Boat Festival Society is looking for volunteers for the 2021 festival as pre-event planning is already underway. Volunteer positions will include areas of the event such as: pre-event steps, event planning, special events, online website work, social media and content work, marketing, stakeholder surveys and many other aspects to move both small and larger projects along. Being COVID-19 compliant will be a significant concern in the planning. Ideally, a graduate that will qualify for the Canada Summer Student Grant under COVID-19 to obtain a grant toward tuition. The MS Society Of Canada — Victoria Branch is looking for volunteers to get involved with their 1:1 Peer Support Program. The program is a telephone and internet-based support program for individuals living with MS, and for caregivers and loved ones of people with MS. Applications from interested volunteers who are living with MS, or are caregivers and loved ones of people with MS, are invited. All training is provided as is ongoing support from MS Society program staff. Must be 18 and over to volunteer and time commitment is three to four hours per month. The Pandora Arts Collective, a registered charity whose mission is to join together around the creative arts as a healing process, is looking for a techsavvy volunteer to serve on its membership and programming committees, working with the board of directors and office manager. Responsibilities include: assisting with website maintenance, an online zine and newsletter. A background in communications or visual arts/graphic design, and experience in working with social-media platforms will be helpful. The First Open Heart Society of B.C., a non-profit charitable organization, is seeking up to two independent directors to join our board of directors for a three- year term commencing September. Previous governance experience is ideal and to fill identified gaps from upcoming vacancies, candidates with expertise in: community outreach, program development, and social advocacy will be preferred.
