One dead after crash in Vic West

One person is dead after a car crashed into a utility pole on Skinner Street early Friday.

Victoria police patrol officers received a report of a single vehicle crash in the 200-block of Skinner Street near Catherine Street about 3 a.m. Officers found the car on fire and the driver fatally injured.

People living nearby rushed to help the driver and provided first aid. Police took over until B.C. Emergency Health Services paramedics arrived and transported the driver to hospital.
