Candle blamed for house fire that caused $350,000 damage

An unattended candle, while a pet was in the room, is the likely cause of a Friday night house fire that caused an estimated $350,000 damage.

The Victoria Fire Department responded to the Chambers Street blaze about 10:20 p.m. with 15 firefighters and five trucks.

The fire was confined to a single suite, with the home’s two other suites escaping fire damage.
