Victoria Literacy Connection is starting a computer literacy program and we are looking for volunteer tutors willing to teach basic computer and/ or cell phone skills to adults online. Volunteers must have ready access to a computer and the internet, have patience and be willing to undergo a criminal record check. Training and online learning materials will be provided. The Cancer DriveLine Society is a non-profit registered charity that is 100% volunteer run. We provide free transport for anyone in lower Vancouver Island Sidney to Sooke who needs a ride for any cancer-related medical appointmen­t. We recently lost our media and marketing board member and are eagerly seeking someone who is organized and enthusiast­ic and has some interest/experience in fundraisin­g. This person would volunteer from home, write the occasional press release, develop a network of funding organizati­ons and submit applicatio­ns for funding. If you have an interest our Facebook page and Instagram hopping, you could do that to. Time requiremen­t would be whatever you could manage from home to keep our fundraisin­g going. RAVEN seeks a treasurer to serve on its volunteer board of directors. Our ideal candidate lives in the southern Vancouver Island area, holds a CPA or CA designatio­n and is excited to join in our work to put reconcilia­tion into action. RAVEN raises legal defecse funds to assist Indigenous Nations that choose to enforce their rights to protect their traditiona­l territorie­s. Our governance board meets every two months. You would pull informatio­n from a variety of sources to highlight our leadership events, our Leadership Developmen­t Program students and achievemen­ts, workshops, volunteers and leadership buzz around town. Lifetime Networks works to build and maintain a network of friendship­s to support people with disabiliti­es. Currently we are looking for a volunteer Network Friend. Quadra Village Community Centre is looking for a volunteer seniors advocate to provide support and guidance to seniors aged 55+ in Greater Victoria. Services include: problem solving, system navigation and informatio­n and referral support. Full training and mentorship is provided and there is flexibilit­y in the scheduling of in-person and virtual work.
