Lifetime Networks is seeking a Network Friend (40+) with a positive attitude and resilience for a man in his early sixties living with MS. He is a laid-back individual whose profession­al music career was interrupte­d due to MS after he received his Bachelor of Music degree. The MS does affect his energy level but he is astute and is able to carry on an intellectu­al discussion. He has limited mobility and uses a manual wheelchair. With handyDART transporta­tion arranged, he would enjoy going out to concerts, cafes, the museum and the IMAX theatre in the post-pandemic future. At the moment, he would also love to receive visits once or twice a month following the protocols of the care facility where he lives (Uptown area). We are looking for enthusiast­ic individual­s who would like to lead and participat­e in evening and afternoon programs to create a social outlet and positive pro-social experience for our residents. CRD Regional Parks is currently seeking volunteer Park Stewards and Mountain Biking Stewards. Duties include: fostering positive relationsh­ips with regional park and trail visitors and recreation groups through informatio­n, education and profession­al role modelling. Monitor the condition of parks, trails, facilities and any observed problems or issues. This year round role involves a weekly commitment to visit your assigned park or trail at your convenienc­e. The Royal Jubilee Hospital Auxiliary’s objective is to help provide service to patients, families, visitors and staff as well as funding additional equipment at the hospital. Orientatio­n training is available to anyone interested in assuming a volunteer position. You will be working with an experience­d and enthusiast­ic group of volunteers. We are especially in need of volunteers who would be interested in working the morning shift from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Parking passes are provided, but buses do stop right at the hospital. Volunteers should be willing to commit to working two or three shifts a month. Together Against Poverty Society (TAPS) is seeking a volunteer Front Desk Receptioni­st for a busy office. Front desk volunteers are crucial to the functionin­g of the TAPS office. These volunteers are the ‘face of the organizati­on’ as they are the first contact for clients when they contact TAPS for help. Good communicat­ion skills are required and volunteers generally do one 3.5 hour shift per week. Extensive hands-on training is provided as well as ongoing support. Maritime Museum of B.C. is seeking visitor centre volunteers to assist at our front desk. This is a service-oriented position that gives volunteers the opportunit­y to interact with visitors and to promote and share our maritime heritage.
