Young wildlife biologist Abby Morgan is so devoted to her work that she ignores any thoughts of a personal life, and she’s thrilled when her current research focus on eagles takes her to Alaska. In that rugged terrain, she meets resort owners Niko and Ellen Rivers (Paul C. Grenier, Grace Dove), an Indigenous couple who introduce her in turn to Jaco Thomas (Ray Thunderchi­ld), a knowledgea­ble tribal elder. It’s enigmatic wilderness guide Eric Hughes (Darien Martin), however, who may be fated to change Abby’s life in this 2021 romance.

Filmmaker Barry Avrich’s 2021 documentar­y centers on the life and music of prolific jazz pioneer Oscar Peterson, whose

A-list musical collaborat­ors included Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, Louis Armstrong and Nat King Cole. Peterson, who died at age 82 in 2007, won seven Grammys and received a Lifetime Achievemen­t Award from The Recording Academy in 1997 honoring his six-decade career. Despite that success, Peterson also battled racism, which helped drive his commitment to mentoring younger players.
