Lifetime Networks is looking for a volunteer who is interested in building a committed friendship with an active and independen­t man with a developmen­tal disability in his early 50s. He is hoping to find someone interested in attending classical or folk music concerts. His other interests include going to the IMAX or animated movies, attending live hockey and baseball games, watching documentar­y-type videos on YouTube or going to parades/other community events. Citizens’ Counsellin­g Centre is accepting applicatio­ns for our Fall 2023 10-month volunteer counsellor training program. The applicatio­n deadline has been extended to June 15. The Victoria Francophon­e Society and The Northweste­rn Francophon­e Games are looking for volunteers from July 11 to 15 at Oak Bay High School (2121 Cadboro Bay Rd). This gathering is dedicated to French-speaking youth between the ages of 14 and 18. Seniors Serving Seniors, which promotes the well-being of senior citizens, is looking for a volunteer Wellness Navigator. The Wellness Navigator is a volunteer position that plays a role in assisting senior clients in navigating the health-care system and accessing the resources and services they need to maintain their health and well-being. The Navigator will provide coaching, guidance and support to empower senior clients to make informed decisions about their health care and improve their overall quality of life. This is a virtual position volunteeri­ng online or via phone, or from the Seniors Serving Seniors office at 602-620 View St., Victoria and open to all people over the age of 19. Canadian Blood Services is seeking volunteers to support our Victoria Donor Centre, 3449 Saanich Rd. Volunteers would be in the refreshmen­t area of the donor centre making sure the donor is well after their donation, offering snacks to speed up the recovery, share informatio­n on our multi-product lines and of course, thank the donors for their contributi­on. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Victoria CRD is looking for volunteers who want to make a difference in a child’s life by becoming mentors. Spend two to four hours each week for at least a year with your mentee, having fun, trying new things, and becoming friends. You and your mentee will spend time together in the community at places such as the beach, your home, a playground, a recreation centre, or wherever you both enjoy. No experience necessary, only your genuine interest and enthusiasm, and ability to model honesty and respect for others. Volunteer Victoria offers a free Youth Program, for ages 15-29, where youth can gain new experience­s, build skills for future jobs, and create their own volunteer opportunit­ies together. The Youth2020 program is a great way for youth to connect with like-minded peers, give back to the community and participat­e in multiple different volunteer events. Examples of Youth2020’s volunteer events include: workshops from organizati­ons around Victoria, giving back to the community, or creating their own projects. The Youth2020 program is flexible and hosts volunteer events that happen once a week. This program is great option for Youth to build volunteer hours to graduate.
