Support Soweto Junior School is looking for a Recycling Volunteer. Do you have a busy life but would like to contribute time to help feed the children at Soweto Junior School in Kenya’s largest slum? Support Soweto Junior School is an entirely volunteerr­un organizati­on that supports a meal program for 300 vulnerable children. We are looking for a reliable person with a car who can donate two to five hours a month to sort our recyclable­s and take the bottles and cans to the Bottle Depot for a refund. Lifetime Networks is looking for a volunteer who is interested in building a friendship with a middle-aged man who has a brain injury. An older volunteer able to commit to a long-term position and who understand­s that memory loss can occur with brain injury is an ideal candidate. This man needs physical support and uses a wheelchair so we hope to find someone who is able to travel and visit at his house. His interests and possible activities would include: watching sports together, playing video games together or going for walks around his neighbourh­ood. The Victoria General Hospital Auxiliary

is seeking volunteers to work in the Gift Shop at VGH as well as assist with various other fundraiser­s. Auxiliary volunteers raise much needed funds to purchase equipment and amenities for patients, their families and staff at VGH. No prior experience is necessary to work in the gift shop and orientatio­n will be provided. Scheduling is flexible and a minimum one year commitment is required. ‘Scenic carpenters’ are skilled volunteers that help construct set, build props and work with the head carpenter, technical director and other scene shop personnel to support the director and set designers vision for each show. The Soup Kitchen is looking for

volunteer cooks. Operating in the basement of St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Victoria, we are looking for morning cooks to prepare our nutritious soup, in a 70 litre commercial kettle for up to 200 diners. This can be a one or two person job. Hours are 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. Duties include making the soup with precut ingredient­s and cleanup. Onsite training is provided. Keen to learn more?
