Broadmead Care is looking for volunteers for our Board of Directors. At Broadmead Care, our purpose is to build communities where every person can enjoy wellbeing and happiness; providing services including residential complex care and adult day programs for veterans and seniors, and residential complex care for adults with disabilities. As a Board Director you bring skills such as philanthropy, finance, legal, healthcare programs, communication, education and leadership. The Royal Jubilee Hospital Auxiliary provides friendly retail convenience service to patients, families, visitors and staff in order to raise funds through its Gift Shop for additional patient care equipment at the hospital. Training will be provided. You will be working with an experienced and enthusiastic group of volunteers. We are especially in need of volunteers who would be interested in working the weekend shifts, although there are some shifts available during the week as well. Parking permits are provided but buses do stop right at the hospital. Volunteers should be willing to commit to working at least three shifts a month. Support Soweto Junior School is looking for a Recycling Volunteer. Do you have a busy life but would like to contribute time to help feed the children at Soweto Junior School in Kenya’s largest slum? Support Soweto Junior School is an entirely volunteerrun organization that supports a meal program for 300 vulnerable children. We are looking for a reliable person with a car who can donate 2-5 hours a month to sort our recyclables and take the bottles and cans to the Bottle Depot for a refund. Canadian Mental Health Association, Victoria Chapter, is looking for a volunteer coordinator for its upcoming Run For Women, taking place on April 20 2024, which will help raise funds and support women’s mental health programs. The Victoria General Hospital
Auxiliary is seeking volunteers to work in the Gift Shop at VGH as well as assist with various other fundraisers. Auxiliary volunteers raise much needed funds to purchase equipment and amenities for patients, their families and staff at VGH. No prior experience is necessary to work in the gift shop and orientation will be provided. Scheduling is flexible and a minimum one year commitment is required. Other volunteer positions available are: Purdy’s chocolate fundraising sales in the foyer at VGH as well as various administrative positions. Langham Court Theatre ‘scenic carpenters’ are skilled volunteers who help construct sets, build props and work with the head carpenter, technical director and other scene shop personnel to support the director and set designers’ vision for each show. Fairfield Gonzales Community
Association is looking for Garden Committee volunteers. The Garden Committee is a volunteer-based group that monitors and maintains the health of the Fairfield Food Forest in collaboration with the Fairfield Gonzales Community Association. The Committee meets monthly in the growing season and bi-monthly in the winter months to discuss the needs of the permaculture garden and the community it serves. Training provided. The Soup Kitchen is looking for volunteer cooks. Operating in the basement of St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Victoria, we are looking for morning cooks to prepare soup in a 70 litre commercial kettle for up to 200 diners. This can be a one- or twoperson job. Hours are 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. Duties include making the soup with precut ingredients and cleanup. Training is provided. Contact Sheila Connelly at 250216-7249.
