The James Bay Market operates, rain or shine, every Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 4 to Oct. 5 from the corner of Menzies and Superior in James Bay. We are an outdoor market where interestin­g famers, food producers, vendors, crafters and customers all come together in the spirit of community. Currently we are recruiting for several volunteer positions all designed to help make the weekly market a super success. Market Setup Assistants; Tear-Down Assistants; Front and Exit Greeters and Coffee and Info Kiosk volunteers are all needed. Shift times vary between 7:30 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. depending on your volunteer role. Lifetime Networks is looking for a volunteer who is interested in building a friendship with a middle-aged man who has a brain injury. An older volunteer able to commit to a long-term position and who understand­s that memory loss can occur with brain injury is an ideal candidate. This man needs physical support and uses a wheelchair so we hope to find someone who is able to travel and visit at his house. His interests and possible activities would include: watching sports together, playing video games together or going for walks around his neighbourh­ood. The Vic West Community Associatio­n is seeking volunteers to support our annual Vic West Fest on June 8th in the beautiful Banfield Park. There are various roles available. Event set up and tear down, face painting, 50/50 ticket sales, even a social media associate to live post from the event! Most are two hours in duration. The Mustard Seed is looking for Volunteer Truck Drivers! Do you hold a Class 5 driver’s license and have a passion for making a difference? We need your help to end food insecurity in Greater Victoria! Our casual positions offer 5 or 6-hour shifts starting at 7 am. We provide 2-3 weeks of training to ensure you’re confident and prepared to hit the road. You’ll help load and unload trucks, so be prepared for some lifting. The Victoria Target Theatre Society is seeking new board members. The Society provides educationa­l and entertaini­ng live theatre for and about issues relevant to seniors, using volunteer actors who are 55 plus. We seek volunteer board members who are passionate about theatre and serving the senior population of Victoria. The board has several positions open, including treasurer and secretary. The board meets once per month (during the day) by Zoom. We are a small society and board, so each member is expected to do some committee work, with summers off.
