Diwali—A Night to Shine Gala October 20, the Beanfield Centre Doctors, CEOs and philanthropists traded suits and gowns for saris and sherwanis to celebrate Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, and raise $1.2 million for emergency medicine and research at the University Health Network. Gala chair Raj Kothari went all out for the festivities: guests were offered bindis and fresh jasmine to wear for the party and, after a four-course multicultural feast prepared by chef Sanjeev Sethi, a diverse roster of performers took to the stage, including Indian drummers, Grecian dancers, Chinese sword fighters and Spanish flamenco musicians.
