Di­wali—A Night to Shine Gala Oc­to­ber 20, the Bean­field Cen­tre Doc­tors, CEOs and phi­lan­thropists traded suits and gowns for saris and sher­wa­nis to cel­e­brate Di­wali, the Hindu fes­ti­val of lights, and raise $1.2 mil­lion for emer­gency medicine and re­search at the Univer­sity Health Net­work. Gala chair Raj Kothari went all out for the fes­tiv­i­ties: guests were of­fered bindis and fresh jas­mine to wear for the party and, af­ter a four-course mul­ti­cul­tural feast pre­pared by chef San­jeev Sethi, a di­verse ros­ter of per­form­ers took to the stage, in­clud­ing In­dian drum­mers, Gre­cian dancers, Chi­nese sword fight­ers and Span­ish fla­menco mu­si­cians.
