Terence Van Dyke
Lost his father, William Van Dyke, at Eatonville, a long-term care home in Etobicoke
In 2016, William Van Dyke moved in with his son, Terence. He loved jazz, rice and beans, and the Raptors—the two of them never missed a game. After William had a bad fall, Terence moved him into Eatonville. Just two months later, the home had a Covid outbreak, and William died alone in hospital. “The other day, I talked to my cousin, who said that when she thinks of my dad, he’s on the dance floor,” Terence says. “That’s how I want to remember him, too.”
