June Morrison

Lost her father, George Morrison, at Orchard Villa, a long-term care home in Pickering

-

George Morrison, born in a farming community in Scotland, was a family man, a music lover, a boxing fan and a sharp dresser. His nickname was “Gorgeous George,” and he and his daughter June loved going camping and on road trips together. In 2016, George was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, and moved into Orchard Villa the following year. Every Friday until Covid, he and June had father-daughter date nights, listening to live music in the lounge. In mid-April, June learned through the media that the home had a Covid outbreak, and she sang her father his favourite songs from outside his window. His condition deteriorated and he was transferred to hospital in late April, where he tested positive for Covid two days later. He died within a week.
