Use existing line to get downtown

Bravo to Viva. Finally, I feel encouraged to see creative solutions to our transportation system, even if it is outside the box ( York Region). As a carless cyclist who advocates and relies on public transportation, I am excited with the clarity of the idea of how to get people from York Region to downtown Toronto without a car.

Recently, I took “ The Northlander” train from Toronto to Gravenhurst for the first time. I noticed that the train track ran right through the ravines next to the Don Valley Parkway. This route is a great way to improve the existing gridlock and air quality by creating an alternative transportation system to Union Station.

Creating a train stop, similar to the newly designed bus stops, where the train track intersects with the Viva bus route, would offer an additional route and a solution to getting people downtown. The train schedule could operate during morning and evening rush- hour times. With the rise of gasoline prices, thinking smart for the future is the better way. Astra Burka, Toronto
