Britain’s Stephen Frears offers, in this Gala presentati­on, what is billed as “ a love note to famous London theatre.” Grand Dame Judi Dench plays an eccentric old widow who buys an abandoned Soho theatre with ambitions of creating her own vaudeville house. She knows only what will get attention: a nude revue. Set in wartime, the film also stars the inimitable Bob Hoskins and new Brit pop star Will Young. Not previewed.
