FA goes after Chelsea over drug tests
LONDON— Defending champion Chelsea was accused of misconduct by England’s Football Association yesterday for doing independent drug tests on some of its players. Former Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu failed a club- administered test before an official positive test for cocaine. The FA suspended him for seven months in September 2004.
Chelsea fired Mutu as well as goalkeeper Mark Bosnich, who tested positive for cocaine and was suspended for nine months by the FA in April 2003.
