Big storm losses

KINGSWAY FINANCIAL

-

Kingsway Financial Services Inc., the largest truck insurer in North America, said it expects losses from Hurricane Katrina of $ 2 million ( U. S.), and Ontario’s Aug. 19 storm will likely cost up to $ 3.5 million ( Canadian). The Mississauga- based company said it has still received very little notification of claims from hurricane Katrina, due to the ensuing disruption around New Orleans.

“ We anticipate gross losses from the storm will fall well within the limits of our catastrophe reinsurance protection,” the company said.
