Hedge on jet fuel

WestJet Airlines Ltd., which has been flying without a priceprotection hedge on its jet fuel, said it now has made a forward purchase of part of its autumn requirements. The airline said it will pay 70.7 cents per litre for 40 per cent of its expected September consumption, 20 per cent of its October needs and 10 per cent of its forecast November demand. The nearmonth futures contract for jet fuel was at the equivalent of 66 cents a litre yesterday.
