Argos don’t care who they get next

- ALLAN RYAN SPORTS REPORTER

The family that hangs out and watches TV together . . . well, they just might pull off another Grey Cup. And so it will be for the Toronto Argonauts this afternoon when they gather at their Mississauga training facility to watch the Montreal/ Saskatchewan semifinal on big- screen TV.

If they’d rather play one team or the other, nobody’s really saying — lest their words wind up on the enemy’s bulletin board for the East final a week today.

“ Doesn’t make any difference,” said cornerback Jordan Younger. “ Montreal would be a big game because of the rivalry but, as far as we’re concerned, our goal is to win the Grey Cup and whoever is next is just that . . . they’re just next.”

While preparation for whichever team begins Tuesday, the Argos used yesterday’s fine weather to stage something of an intra- squad game — offence against defence. Best we can tell, it went 17- 0 for the offence but, of course, the defence didn’t have much of an offence. A new face at practice yesterday belonged to 6- foot- 6, 310pound offensive lineman Ulish Booker, strictly an insurance policy in case anything happens to one of their three import Olinemen, Bernard Williams, Dave Costa or Jerome Davis. The backup, Canadian Jeff Keeping, messed up his knee in the regular- schedule finale and is done for the year. His spot will likely be filled by another nonimport, Mike Mihelic.

Booker, 26 and out of Michigan State, spent time in the Pittsburgh Steeler camp this season and, more recently, was part of the World Bowl champion Amsterdam Admirals.
