Ryan’s testifyin’
Ryan Reynolds is an actor, not a relationship expert. But he seems to know a few things about finding true love. After all, the 29- year- old has been happily engaged to fellow Canadian Alanis Morissette since June 2004.
“ We have not set an actual date for our wedded bliss just yet,” he said earlier this month while promoting his movie Just Friends
in Los Angeles. “ Knowing her, we will both go ‘ Let’s just do it tomorrow. Tomorrow is a good day. Your parents are in town. Let’s get together and wear some rings.’ ”
Reynolds, a graduate of Vancouver’s Kitsilano High School, admits he wasn’t always a babe magnet but can now offer some sage advice on how to get the girl of your dreams and avoid the dreaded “ just- friends zone.”
1. You gotta be you: “ I went through the ‘ Don’t be honest’ and ‘ Don’t be sensitive’ and ‘ Don’t be vulnerable’ phase. People say women like guys who are assholes. But they don’t. They like guys who are confident.”
2. Call, already: “ If you are 40 and you are single and you are going, ‘ It’s too soon to call,’ chances are, you will be 50 and saying the same thing.”
3. Cry, baby: “ I hope that guys if they can learn one thing it is not to be afraid to be vulnerable. My entire experience during The Notebook was stifled sobs. Like a little girl.”
