Six sought in gang sex assault
Police say a 27-year-old woman was forced into a vehicle in downtown Toronto on at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and taken to a home where she was sexually assaulted by six men.
The woman was held for several hours, but managed to break free and get to a hospital where she was treated and released, police say.
No weapons were used. Police say the woman was walking south on Yonge St., near Gerrard St., after leaving work at about 9:30 p.m. when a vehicle pulled up. Const. Wendy Drummond said the six men inside demanded that the woman get in and she did so, possibly out of fear.
Police don’t have a description of the vehicle, although the victim provided them with distinct descriptions of the attackers.
She was driven to a home in the Yonge St. and Eglinton Ave. W. area, where she was sexually assaulted. She was able to free herself after several hours and contacted police. She was taken to hospital for treatment and released.
No one in the area seemed aware of the abduction on Wednesday. The security detachment at nearby Ryerson University had not heard of the attack. The campus is quiet because classes haven’t resumed.
There is a police camera at the corner of Gerrard and Yonge Sts., near where the woman was forced into the vehicle, but investigators did not say whether the incident was captured on it.
However, police spokesperson Const. Tony Vella said investigators are taking the incident seriously.
The tallest of the men was about 6-foot-1, with overlapping front teeth and a long nose. He and one other had Mohawk-style hair, while a third man had his hair in a wavy afro style..
