YOUR STARS

- JONATHAN CAINER

As Valentine’s Day approaches, I must issue my regular reminder that this date is not astrological. If only, once a year, we were to pick a moment when Venus was forming a helpful alignment to, say, Jupiter or Mars we could declare that the time for romantic celebration and many more people might find their love lives improved. As things stand, expectations run high, but there’s little by way of heavenly help for hardened hearts. If you’d like to feel more love in your life, remember June 6 is more likely to bring just what the astrological doctor ordered. ARIES (March 21 — April 20) You may not be happy about all that is happening, but at least you know where you stand. This will soon enable you to make decisions with confidence. It means you will no longer have to worry about what to say or to whom. You need not strive to keep all options open. You can even risk a little unpopularity. Where an element of confusion still exists, it will soon be cleared up. Just do not let one strong but unrealistic desire, colour your otherwise excellent judgment. With Venus in your sign, Valentine’s Day looks set to prove pleasing.

TAURUS (April 21 — May 21) Why do you live where you live? Could you envisage being anywhere else? How far away might you go if you could? How would you alter your domestic situation? And how about the things you do each day, the places you go, the people you are with? You need to know what it is that you are secretly wishing for, because the wish-granting fairy (in the shape of an angle from Venus to Pluto) is now hovering a little closer to your shoulder than you might think. That gives you the power to create great change this Valentine’s week. Use it wisely.

GEMINI (May 22 — June 22) Why did the chicken cross the road? There are many good answers to this question. Which came first, the chicken or the egg? There are never any good answers to that question too. Ask it as much as you like. Pose it to whomsoever you choose, the question merely leads to another question. In the run up to Valentine’s Day, Mercury moves into your house of deep faith. Events are making you acutely conscious of the many unanswerable questions in your life. Why should these bug you any more, or less, than the one about the chicken? Just trust.

CANCER (June 23 — July 23) Why are you doing what you are doing? Why are you going where you are going? Before we proceed further, let me check your answer to these questions. Only one reply is acceptable: “I don’t know.” If you think you do know, you are mistaken. If you are unsure, you are safe. Treasure a doubt in your life right now. Through it, you can allow an element of sheer magic to enter your world. Remember, in all the choices that you make this Valentine’s week, as soon as you think you fully know what’s going on, you are closing the door on a wonderful surprise. For more, call 900-528-8880.

LEO (July 24 — Aug. 23) Sometimes, we leap into things without looking first. Often, that’s just as well. As events before and after Valentine’s Day are prone to remind us, if we had really understood how difficult something was going to be, we might never have taken on the challenge! Far better to be enthusiastic out of ignorance, than to be pessimistic for the same reason. If you’re going to be negative, you owe it to yourself to research your options and alternatives carefully. Don’t look at a situation and think, “There’s nothing in this for me.” Check what there could be. For more, call 900-528-8880.

VIRGO (Aug. 24 — Sept. 23) Reward without effort brings no sense of satisfaction. It sounds great, but it ultimately leads only to boredom. Every so often though, this rule has to be broken. Miraculous things must occur if only to create a sense of contrast in the cosmos. This week, your ruler arrives in your house of romance and relationship, bringing you a chance to benefit from that rogue rule. You have the ability to achieve the most amazing objectives with apparent ease. Use your powers wisely, but do not start to doubt them or wonder whether you deserve them. For more, call 900-528-8880.

LIBRA (Sept. 24 — Oct. 23) Is this your life? Is this your world? Or are you just simply borrowing it all? Even if this world does not belong to us, that’s all the more reason to show it some respect. We criticize teenagers for treating their home like a hotel, but look at how we adults abuse our planet. And how badly we mistreat ourselves and each other. You are determined to make all aspects of your life healthier. As Venus now enters the part of your chart that governs agreement and understanding, you will begin to succeed in this, especially if you own your issues and start to address them. For more, call 900-528-8880.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24 — Nov. 22) “If you can’t think of anything nice to say, then don’t bother saying anything.” That’s what people used to tell me when I was a child, and it was good advice. There are, of course, times when we have to be candid, forthright … even blunt. Still, we can do it nicely, or at least as nicely as possible under the circumstances. This week, you may feel tempted to express your disapproval of a situation. Wrap this up with a sweet Valentine’s bow and cover it in flowers. If your criticism is constructive and delicately delivered, it will be better received. For more, call 900-528-8880.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 23 — Dec. 21) You can most positively approach Valentine’s Day, by taking a very practical step. You can clear something up, clear something out, settle an outstanding matter, end an ongoing dispute, remove a source of uncertainty and make a declaration of firm, clear intent. What difference will this make? An enormous one. Too much is being ignored, swept under the carpet, left to fester or accepted without question. You are not in control of many factors but there are some processes whose outcome you can influence — and you should. For more, call 900-528-8880.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22 — Jan. 20) Our brains are slow and clumsy. Even the cleverest among us can- not think very fast, for our intellects are instruments of comprehension not creation. Our hearts are speedier. They know the answers to questions before the questions have even been asked. And they never wrong, even if our powers of logic and analysis insist that they must be. Try to keep all that in mind this Valentine’s week. You think that you are now struggling to make a decision? Not so. The decision has already been made. You are just struggling to justify it. Stop struggling. Just accept. For more, call 900-528-8880.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 21 — Feb. 19) You have been on a great emotional journey and you are still, to some extent, going through this. Now, whether you know it or not, you are at the stage where it all gets resolved, sorted out, cleared up and made good. You are not quite in sight of your destination, but that is only because the road has one more sharp turn ahead. But you are nearer than you think to a prolonged phase of clarity, comfort and consistency. The exasperating, exhausting “fuzzy phase” that you have been in for a while, ebbs away as Valentine’s Day draws nigh. For more, call 900-528-8880.

PISCES (Feb. 20 — March 20) Venus may have left your sign but Mercury moves into the vacant space this week, bringing forth a series of events and experiences that fill your heart with newfound enthusiasm. You will find yourself in demand socially and even romantically. You will prosper on the material plane and on higher levels too. In the realm of creative imagination, you will be blessed with great gifts of lasting value. Shrug off your negative expectations about Valentine’s Day — or any other date in your diary. You have so many reasons to embrace the future. For more, call 900-528-8880.
