CHURCHMAN, Albert Richard (Vic)

— At age 83, Vic passed away on March 3, 2012. So loved and sadly missed by Mollie, his wife of 58 years. Proud and loving Dad of Richard (Sarah) of London, England and Kevan (Donna) of Oakville. Special Grampa to George, Charlotte, Emma and Graham. As a young man in England, Vic served for 2 years in the National Service after WWII as an Able Bodied Seaman serving on the HMS Solebay. He volunteere­d as crew for many years with the Lifeboat Institutio­n helping to save numerous lives on the rough seas off the coast of England. Vic was an avid rugby player and supporter all of his years, captaining and playing for Clacton Rugby Club. After emigrating from England in 1967 and settling in Cobourg, Vic spent the majority of his career in various Ministries within the Ontario Government, finally retiring in 1993 from writing Financial Policy at Queen’s Park for the Ministry of Community and Social Services. Vic loved to walk, to read, to watch soccer and to garden. Sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses at Sunnybrook Hospital, to many new and old friends for their love and support and to all our relatives in Australia and the UK, especially Geoff, Elizabeth and Tom and Jimmie, Jennifer and John. Visitation will be at The Simple Alternativ­e Funeral Home at 1057 Brock Road, Pickering, at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 8, 2012 immediatel­y followed by a funeral service in our chapel at 2 p.m. ln lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Sunnybrook Hospital would be appreciate­d in honour of Vic. A celebratio­n of Vic’s life will be held at a later date. He was a warm, kind

and gentle man.
