Leafs are among NHL teams with no homegrown players

Don Cherry’s latest gust of outrage has been directed at Maple Leafs general manager Brian Burke on the lack of Ontario players on the club, but Toronto is hardly alone in bypassing its own backyard.

Even the storied Montreal Canadiens have just three active Habs from la belle province.

In total, 14 teams, or about half the league, have a homegrown player on their roster as of Monday.

The following is a list of the teams with players who were born in the state or province in which their teams play: BOSTON: Mike Mottau, Quincy, Mass.
