Hindus gather to celebrate the ancient festival of Holi

Devotees pray as coloured powder is thrown on them to celebrate Holi in Vrindavan, about 140 kilometres south of New Delhi. The festival, rooted in ancient Hindu legend, marks the end of winter but also the triumph of good over evil, and features elaborate processions and bonfires.
