Neighbour convicted in death of woman, 81

-

A Toronto Superior Court jury has found Mohammad Hamadeh guilty as charged of second-degree murder for fatally stabbing his 81-year-old neighbour, Marion Lyons, on Jan. 6, 2009.

Lyons’ body was found in her Flemingdon Park area apartment, down the hall from where Hamadeh lived with his family. Lyons had beating injuries and 90 stab wounds. Hamadeh had gone on a shopping spree with her credit card, court heard. A mistrial was declared last year after another jury could not reach a verdict. A sentencing date will be set Friday.
