Ate spring style

-

Designers have been pushing patterned trousers for a few seasons now, but this season, with low-priced versions available at H&M and Zara, the trend seems to be running at full speed. And the new arbiters of style — now known as street-style stars — have been featured on numerous blogs sporting these look-at-me pants at fashion weeks from New York to Paris and now, Toronto.

It was street-style photos from Milan and Paris that inspired Michelle Bilodeau, editorial director of Frontrowmag.com, to inject some fun into her almost all-black wardrobe with a pair of patterned pants she purchased online from Madewell.

“This is me dipping my toe into vibrant prints,” she said.

They might be attention-getting but they were surprisingly easy to wear, she says.

“It’s best grounded with anything black — like a blazer.

“And they are a good alternative to jeans,” she adds.

Blue jeans just might have some stiff competition this summer.
