Katimavik youth program to end
Katimavik, an internationally recognized program that has been helping young Canadians develop employment skills through volunteer opportunities for 35 years, will fall victim to the government’s budget.
The government-funded program each year offers about 1,000 Canadians between the ages of 17 and 21 opportunities to work on community development initiatives across the country.
On Thursday, the organization learned that its three-year $45-million funding agreement with the government will not be renewed when it expires next year.
