Future Raptor in action?

- DOUG SMITH SPORTS REPORTER

With the Raptors headed for a lottery pick, here are five almost sure-fire, firstround picks to watch in the Final Four:

ANTHONY DAVIS

Kentucky

The 6-10 freshman power forward is far and away the consensus No. 1 pick, with NBA ready defensive and shot-blocking skills. His offensive game is evolving; he’s the best player in college basketball.

MICHAEL KIDD-GILCHRIST

Kentucky

Another freshman who suggested earlier this year he might go back to school, the 6-6 small forward might be the best fit for Toronto outside of Davis. Extremely accomplished defender who plays with energy.

JARED SULLINGER

Ohio State

Was seen as a top-5 pick a year ago before going back to school. At 6-10, about 280, he’s got abundant post skills. The question is where would he fit in Toronto unless the Raptors moved some other young big men.

THOMAS ROBINSON

Kansas

A physical presence at 6-8 and 240, the sophomore power forward is another one in the Sullinger category, an intriguing player who might create a logjam in Toronto. Excellent post play is what separates him from others.

TERRENCE JONES

Kentucky

It’s a stretch to think the 6-9 small forward will creep into the lottery — he’s probably a pick between 17-20 — but if the Raptors acquire an additional pick he’d be interesting. Knock on him is a suspect work ethic.
