Last dash for London

Despite Olympics, Shakespeare fest and Jubilee, there’s still time to book summer visit to England

- KATHRYN FOLLIOTT

With everything going on in London this summer, you might think the entire city is booked up. Not so. There are still many hotel rooms to be had and, more importantly, flights to get you across the pond. Thomas Cook is promoting several packages, all air-inclusive, such as the May 28 departure to London-Gatwick with seven nights’ accommodation at the three-star Ambassadors Hotel, starting from $699 per person. Other dates and hotels are available. There’s also a go-as-you-please option, including flight, seven nights’ accommodation, breakfast and a seven-day car rental with Hertz, starting from $1,059 per person for the July 30 departure. All of these packages are operated by Transat Holidays and prices do not include taxes and fees, totalling about $580 per person. London’s most high-profile event this sum- mer is the Olympic Games (July 27 to Aug. 12), but there is also the Queen’s Diamond Jubliee and cultural highlights such as the World Shakespeare Festival.
