CONCERT SAMPLER

- by Raju Mudhar

Kelly Clarkson will perform at the Molson Amphitheatre Tuesday. 1. “As Long as I Live” Bruce Peninsula It’s the last night of the Open Roof festival’s season, with a pretty great double bill. The film is the acclaimed Beasts of the Southern Wild, followed up by this sonically sprawling local 10-piece. (Thursday, Amsterdam Brewery, bit.ly/brucelong) 2. “Amnesia” Dead Can Dance This Australian group recently released its eighth album, Anastasis, and come through for a rare tour. (Thursday, Sony Centre, bit.ly/ddam) 3. “Rocky Ground” Bruce Springsteen He’s a still a legend, and likely one of the surest things when it comes to a great concert. Seeing old lions is what summer is for. (Friday, Rogers Centre, bit.ly/bossrocky) 4. “Drop” Lee Foss The Hot Creations label boss headlines this outdoor beach party, featuring a pretty great lineup, including deejay sets from Matthew Dear, Juan Maclean and more. (Saturday, Sugar Beach, bit.ly/leedrop) 5. “Lose Yourself” Kelly Clarkson She’s still the pop star with the best pipes and fabulously catchy tracks. She’s even doing fan-requested covers on this tour. When she was in Detroit two weeks ago, she tried her hand at the Eminem classic, and acquitted herself well. (Tuesday, Molson Ampitheatre, bit.ly/kellyem) 6. “Killing Time Is Murder” Whitehorse This is a musical amalgam of Luke Doucett and Melissa McClelland, we can’t think of a more fitting venue than the Dakota for this twangy goodness. (Tuesday, Dakota, bit.ly/ cbchorse)
