Ford’s downfall gets global attention

-

A judge ruled Monday that Mayor Rob Ford would have to vacate his position and media around the globe stepped up to cover the unusual ruling.

The BBC and the New York Times offered readers tothe-point coverage of the final lap of the case that found Ford guilty of violating conflict of interest rules.

The Associated Press also chimed in with a story that appeared in several newspapers including the Washington Post.

The Economist took an editorial stance and had no qualms about writing about how they felt. They stated that Ford was “largely the architect of his own downfall,” and added that “his bombastic, polarising manner has prompted remorseless opposition.” It details the various mistakes they feel Ford has made and explains how the “turmoil surrounding him” will negatively impact the city.

Even the sarcastic Vice magazine, usually focused on international arts and culture, couldn’t pass up a chance to poke fun and ruffle a few feathers with its claim that the city had fired the best mayor of all time, saying that Ford was a constant source of comedy and surprise.
