Lifetime named renovator of the year
Recognizing quality craftsmanship, innovative design and professionalism, we celebrated 27 finalists and presented our coveted Renovation and Custom Home Awards to the winners last week.
The prestigious Renovator of the Year title was awarded to A Lifetime Contractor. The company is in its 66th year of renovating homes in the Toronto area and is led by president Sandra Baldwin, who followed her father’s footsteps into the renovation industry.
The Renovator of the Year award is bestowed to a renovator who sets the standard for the rest of the sector in their leadership and commitment to customer service, as well as contributing to the overall image of the renovation industry.
The Best Green Renovation award, a new category this year, goes to SevernWoods Construction, for rebuilding a 1950s North York home using sustainable features and finishes.
In the Best Renovation Under $75,000 category, Golden Bee Homes won for a project that involved remodelling a master bathroom and creating a relaxing atmosphere.
Carick Home Improvements is the winner in the $75,000$150,000 category, for the complete main-floor remodel of a late-1980s suburban home to open up the space and add more natural light.
Attard Construction is the winner in the $150,000-$300,000 category, for adding curb appeal by creating a new front facade on a modest 1960s suburban ranch-style bungalow.
In the $300,000-$500,000 category, Decksterity Carpentry Contracting takes the trophy, for transforming the inside and outside of a home from the foundation to the roof.
Two winners got the nod in the over $500,000 category. Lewitt Construction brought a heritage home in Scarborough back to life and SevernWoods worked with new homeowners in Little Italy to turn a tired 1880s Victorian triplex into a modern single-family home. Eurodale Developments has been awarded the best condominium renovation award, for adding func- tion and beauty to a 3,000-squarefoot high-rise home. In the very competitive category of Best Custom Home, the award goes to a house in harmony with its environment that blends a mature landscape and traditional-style home with its neighbourhood, built by Tony Ferkul Construction Management Group and designed by David W. Small Designs.
The dramatic before-and-after photos of the projects submitted for awards are on display at BILD’s booth, Destination Renovation, at the National Home Show until March 24 at the Direct Energy Centre at Exhibition Place.
Our volunteer RenoMark renovators will be at the booth dishing out free advice. You can also pick up a contact list of GTA RenoMark renovators at the booth, as well as a RenoGuide with helpful hints and BILD’s renovation-specific Code of Conduct to help homeowners renovate with confidence.
