Some cool travel websites

-

New websites with travel themes pop up all the time. Here are some you might want to check out. Website: Map Fight (http://mapfight.appspot.com) Lowdown: An all-time favourite site for geography-lovers, Map Fight compares the size of one nation or state against another. Who knew that Mongolia is six times bigger than Michigan? Good for travelers who need to get a sense of how big a country they’ll visit actually is. Website: momondo.com Lowdown: Searches more than 700 airlines and fare sites for best fares. However, because Delta and American Airlines no longer participate, the site is useful mainly as a way to search for cheap city-to-city fares in Europe, Africa, Russia and the Middle East. Website: sobercelebrations.com Lowdown: Sponsors “gratitude” vacations and cruises to Alaska, Dubai, Ireland, the Caribbean and more, and “all attendees have the main goal of staying sober while away on a vacation.” Website: cedarpoint.com/gatekeeper Lowdown: All the details and a video of the new winged steel roller coaster at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. GateKeeper will be 4,164 feet long and feature a 164-foot drop. The park opens May 11. Website: olivia.com Lowdown: Specializes in upscale lesbian resort vacations and cruises, such as a January 2014 South American cruise from Buenos Aires to Rio on the Silversea Silver Cloud that will feature financial guru Suze Orman ($3,999 per person and up, not including airfare).
