Winnipeg writer wins poetry prize
Winnipeg’s James Scoles is the winner of the 2013 CBC Poetry Prize.
His poem “The Trailer” (an account of his dream home, a tiny trailer in B.C.’s interior where he vacations) was selected from among 1,400 entries.
He walks away with the $6,000 prize offered by the Canada Council for the Arts.
Scoles teaches creative writing at the University of Winnipeg.
He will receive a two-week writing residency at the Banff Centre’s Leighton Artists’ Colony with the poem published in Air Canada’s enRoute magazine. Paul Irish
