Foreign fishing boats cited by inspectors

The Department of Fisheries and Oceans says a dozen foreign fishing vessels were given citations for overfishing more than 430 tonnes of redfish off the east coast of Newfoundland.

The department said on its website that Canadian inspectors with the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organization issued 12 citations to vessels from the Russian Federation and the European Union between July 30 and Aug. 22.
