CALGARY— Jon Cornish ran for a pair of touchdowns for the Stampeders and took over the CFL’s rushing lead in a 38-11 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Saturday.

With a career-high 208 yards in the game, Cornish moved past Saskatchewan’s Kory Sheets with 1,415 on the season.

The 28-year-old halfback from New Westminster, B.C., is on the verge of breaking his own single-season record for Canadian running backs. His 1,457 yards in 2012 bettered Norm Kwong’s 56-year-old mark. Cornish set that record in the final game of the regular season. The Stampeders have four remaining in this one.

Maurice Price and Marquay McDaniel each had touchdown catches for the Stampeders, who top the league and the West Division at 11-3. Kicker Rene Paredes contributed three fields goals for Calgary.

Will Ford scored on a 100-yard kickoff return for Winnipeg.

Kicker Sandro DeAngelis, a former Stampeder, made one of two field-goal attempts in front of an announced crowd of 26,293 at McMahon Stadium. Calgary’s Rob Maver and Winnipeg’s Mike Renaud traded punt singles in the second quarter.

Stampeders quarterback Kevin Glenn improved to 7-2 in starts this season with 320 passing yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.

Winnipeg quarterback Max Hall was 14 of 33 pass attempts for 139 yards. He was intercepted once.
