Newborn mauled by family pet
A dog has mauled a 16-day-old baby girl in the southern Vancouver Island town of Saanich.
Const. Lisa Bruschetta said Saanich Police received the report of the attack early Sunday. The girl was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the family agreed to immediately euthanize the dog, which local media described as a pitbull-Rottweiler cross.
Police said charges of criminal negligence are being contemplated.
