2 soldiers, assailant killed in raid
State media in Ivory Coast say two soldiers have been killed in a raid on military posts in the southwest of the country.
The Ivorian Press Agency said the attack began early Saturday morning in the town of Grabo, near the border with Liberia.
The soldiers were killed in the village of Dahioke, 20 kilometres outside the town. One assailant was also killed. Western Ivory Coast was hit hard during Ivory Coast’s 2010-11 postelection violence, which erupted after former president Laurent Gbagbo refused to concede defeat to his successor, Alassane Ouattara.
Pro- Gbagbo fighters fled along with civilians into neighbouring Liberia, and raids targeting the new army have occurred sporadically ever since.
