Bachelorette couple pulls the plug on engagement
Andi Dorfman, Josh Murray join long list of pairs from ABC series to not make it to the altar
Just days after appearing on the Season19 premiere of The Bachelor, Andi Dorfman and Josh Murray are calling it quits.
The couple got engaged after appearing on The Bachelorette last year, but their rep told TMZ this week it’s over.
“After several months of being engaged and working on our relationship, we have decided that it’s best for both of us to go our separate ways,” the couple said Thursday in a joint statement to various media outlets.
“We are very sad that it has come to this point, but this is what’s best for both of us individually.”
It comes as a surprise, given the timing. The pair were just chatting with host Chris Harrison earlier this week, as Bachelor and Bachelorette alumni were all dolled up for the premiere’s red carpet event.
As noted by the Star’s Debra Yeo, Harrison asked the couple when they were planning to tie the knot. They said they didn’t know — but looked rather cozy together on the red carpet, with Dorfman rubbing Murray’s back.
The pair now joins a long line of Bachelor and Bachelorette couples who’ve pulled the plug. One calculation put the show’s lasting love success rate at just 16 per cent (which would be slightly lower now after this latest breakup).
It’s enough to make you long for the first Bachelorette finale, when Trista Rehn chose Ryan Sutter. As far as we know, they’re still happily married with two kids in Colorado. With files from Star wire services
