Superhero deal gives Marvel Spidey
Peter Parker is packing his bags and getting ready to hang out with Thor and Captain America and the other Marvel characters.
Sony and Marvel have reached a deal that will give Marvel access to the character they sold to Sony for $7 million (U.S.) in 1999 and a new movie will debut in 2017. The character will not, however, be played by Andrew Garfield, who was Spidey in the last two Sony instalments.
According to Variety, “It’s very likely that Spider-Man will make his first appearance in Captain America: Civil War next year.”
This new development means Marvel’s previously announced release schedule has been changed. According to Deadline, “The new Spidey . . . is due to storm theatres July 28, 2017,” but Disney is moving Thor: Ragnarokto Nov. 3, 2017 and Captain Marvel to Nov. 2, 2018. Malene Arpe
