INTENSIVE LEARNING AT CHANG SCHOOL
For working adults who are looking to upgrade their skills or learn new skills, but the decision to go back to school is competing with work, family and other personal activities, The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education, Ryerson University, offers an option to achieve these goals.
Formats like the boot camp-style summer intensive program allow students to have flexibility in their education.
“Adult learners are often juggling multiple commitments and they need flexible learning options,” says Dr. Marie Bountrogianni, dean, The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education, Ryerson University. “Intensives run during the summer months and give students the opportunity to complete most or all of a certificate in a significantly shorter period of time.”
The boot camp-style summer intensive programs run over three months and give students the opportunity to complete most or all of a certificate program in this time frame.
At the end of an intensive, students can apply to graduate and receive a certificate, with the exception of the publishing intensive, which requires two more electives for completion.
The intensive programs are offered in a classroom setting.
This summer, the Chang School offers 11 boot camp-style summer intensive programs, six of which are new.
The new intensives include the public relations intensive, data analytics fast track, computer security fast track, disaster and emergency fast track, robotics and embedded systems fast track, and the sustainability management fast track, which all start at the beginning of May.
The existing intensives include the publishing intensive, project management boot camp, summer film school, photography studies intensive, and the summer fashion intensive.
Bountrogianni says these intensives are also a good opportunity for new graduates looking to enter the workforce or seeking opportunities to boost their credentials in their area of interest.
