Boy, 3, dies after falling from 17-floor window

-

A 3-year-old boy died Sunday after he fell from a-17th-storey window of a west-end Toronto condo building, police said.

Toronto police said the incident happened shortly after 2 p.m. at 3 Hickory Tree Rd., near Weston Rd. and Lawrence Ave. W.

George Shears, who lives on the building’s ground floor, said he heard a thump and thought his neighbour had dropped something.

“It’s scary to think about,” said Shears. The boy was given CPR and was then rushed to hospital with “critical injuries,” paramedics said. He died from his injuries once in hospital, said police.

According to media reports, family friends have identified the boy as Wallace Passos.

Police were investigating at the scene Sunday afternoon. Caution tape was stretched around the base of the tower.

Dave Estrella, 44, said he lived on the same floor as the family, and had seen and heard the boy in the building.
