The Ride Don’t Hide bike fundraiser will be held June 21 in 30 communities across Canada.

“The aim of the ride is to raise awareness and help break the stigma surrounding mental health,” says Lurie, “and to raise funds to support our mental health programs.”

CMHA Toronto is partnering with the York Region branch, organizing a ride to be held at the Upper Canada Mall in Newmarket.

The event is family friendly and there are routes for all ages and abilities. CMHA’s goal is to attract 800 to 1,000 riders to the event, adds Lurie, and to raise $250,000 dollars.

“It’s a real opportunity for the community to show they support mental health — and it’s also a healthy activity,” says Lurie.
