CORRECTION

A May 7 column about the upcoming federal election campaign mistakenly said no political party has won more than four elections in a row in more than a century. In fact, the Liberal Party of Canada won five elections in a row from 1963 to 1974 and between 1935 and 1953. As well, the column mistakenly said no Canadian prime minister since Mackenzie King has had more than an uninterrupted decade in power. In fact, Pierre Trudeau served 11 years from April 1968 to June 1979 and Jean Chrétien served from November 1993 to December 2004.
